The Membership Committee and its subcommittees promote League membership, orient and support new members, facilitate member involvement and satisfaction, maintain membership data and listings, and manage the New Member Handbook.

New Member Orientation

New Member Orientation volunteers conduct orientation activities for new members, and develop and update membership materials, including the New Member Handbook.

League Friends

"League Friends" are volunteers who agree to mentor a new member, introducing them to the League, and matching their interests and talents with volunteer opportunities.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

The DEI Committee assures that the League’s DEI policy is adhered to in all aspects of the organization, promotes a diverse membership, and offers educational opportunities for members.

Membership Data

Membership Data volunteers monitor membership and renewal data, maintain membership records, examine membership trends, and share information about members’ interests in order to facilitate their entry into League committees and programs.

Social/Meet & Greet

The Social/Meet & Greet Committee provides League members with opportunities to interact in informal social settings that foster collegial and personal relationships.

Holiday Brunch

The Holiday Brunch Committee plans and hosts a social brunch event for League members in December each year.

Book Club

The Book Club selects, reads and discusses relevant books of interest to its members. Book Club members recommend and select the books each November for the next year. Fiction, non-fiction and even a graphic novel have been selected over the 8 years the Book Club has existed.

Nominating

Thank you for your interest in the Nominating Committee! While members may not self-select to join this committee, you are welcome to contact the Chair with any questions or suggestions.

The Nominating Committee shall consist of five members. The chair and two LWVGT members who are not Board members shall be elected at the Annual Membership Meeting. At the first Board meeting following the Annual Membership Meeting, the Board shall appoint two Board members to serve on the committee. You can read more about the Nominating Committee in the LWVGT ByLaws.

For 2026, the Nominating Committee will be filling the following positions: President-Elect, Public Programs Chair, Advocacy Chair, Secretary, two Board members, Nomination Committee Chair, and two non-Board members.

East Side Unit

The East Side Unit organizes events and presentations for League members and interested members of the community on Tucson’s east side.
